50 Days to Fifty -The Dishcloth

I can’t remember the last time I picked up my knitting needles. I’m not the best or fastest knitter in the world. I’m prone to mistakes and lack of concentration especially trying to follow a complicated pattern. However, I do find it a strangely satisfying and relaxing past time.

Project seven of my 50 to 50 challenge was to knit a dishcloth. I was aiming for something fairly simple and quick in order to achieve a win on this… unlike the failed attempt at jewellery and poetry!

I picked up some nice green recycled cotton from a local shop and found a pattern online and I was away.  After knitting about 10 rows I realised I had made a catastrophic mistake and it all had to be undone and started again.

It was at this point I decided I needed a piece of paper to tick off where I was in this supposedly ‘beginners’ uncomplicated pattern. That helped keep me on track. I still made a couple of minor mistakes but nothing that wasn’t correctable this time.

After a few hours I had one completed dishcloth!  I then encountered another issue, it was too nice to use on the dishes so it has become my facecloth instead.

Now to make a few more a little bigger to replace all my old and worn out flannels.

For those who are interested the pattern is below from Just Be Crafty:
