Knitting has figured twice now in my 50 to 50 project. I don’t think I realised how relaxing and creatively stimulating knitting could be.
I remembered seeing a picture of a friend on Instagram wearing a lovely knitted headband / ear warmer last year, so while I have the knitting bug, I thought I would have a go at creating a band myself. And thus it became my day eleven challenge.
Trawling through the hundreds of free headband knitting patterns online became a bit of a chore. I decided to cobble together my own pattern with a cheats twist.
We have had some pretty chilly days this winter, so this is just the ticket to keep those ears warm and out of the wind.
Below is the pattern for those who are interested in a quick and easy project.
Using 5mm needles and a Marble chunky wool I cast on 20 stitches.
Row 1 – knit 2, purl 2 to the end
Repeat row 1 until the headband will fit comfortably round your head, with a little stretch.
Twist the ribbed pattern in the middle and using a large wool needle sew the twist in place.
Sew the two ends together and voila! A snazzy and quick ear warming headband.
